How can I get Involved?
There are a range of ways residents can get involved; we are even expanding on these through our new Resident Engagement Strategy. You can join in activities such as through surveys on service areas, service review events and more formally by joining one of our resident groups. Sometimes, you may just want to join in on something particular to your community or area e.g. Grounds Maintenance.
We are always looking for new volunteers to work with our existing Resident Volunteers, helping them improve services for the benefit of all ClwydAlyn Residents.
We are particularly looking for young people aged 16-25 to help us on a volunteer basis to engage and represent the views of your community. What would you like to see; opportunities around work and employment are a key point of interest and finding the right kind of practical support in budgeting and sourcing accommodation. Many of our business partners are aligned to help us, but we need your input to ensure we deliver services that make a difference.
We have lots going on in communities for all ages to bring people together and deliver community engagement events and we are always looking for residents to get involved further. Many residents want to be part of positive social action and we welcome your participation.

What are some of the resident groups and what do they do?
Our residents are key to every level of our organisation, from sitting on the Group Boards to engaging with us in community events.

Service Improvement Committee
The Service Improvement Committee provides assurance that service quality, value for money and the expectation of you, our customers, meet the requirements of the ClwydAlyn.
One of the members says; “I like the fact that it is coming from a resident perspective, not an Officer perspective. Officers have taken on board our views on how we want the committee to work”.
Quality Partner Scrutiny Group
The Quality Partners Scrutiny Group (Quality Partners) have a role to scrutinise service areas to see if they deliver as expected, reviewing and recommending any improvements to the ClwydAlyn Board and the Service Improvement Committee. The Quality partners also have their own programme of what areas to inspect, and can also receive commissions from the Service Improvement Committee and the Boards of Management.
What events do residents attend?
We have an Annual General Meeting which is always well attended with key note speakers and exhibitors from the services we run – for example did you know we have The Old Court House Café in Flint? A fantastic community café and meeting place which also delivers our ODEL Involve service. ODEL Involve provides low level support and advice for people who have been or are in receipt of Support Services, anything from accessing housing to creating work opportunities and we have a network of business partners to work with.
Our residents attend National Conferences on a wide range of topics such as the Annual Tenant Participation Service (TPAS) Cymru conference, where residents can network.

Resident Engagement Impact Assessment
How residents got involved and made a difference to the way our services are shaped and delivered.
On a Governance level, our resident volunteers work alongside the Senior Management Team to deliver the strategic objectives; from the Company Business Plan, to making key decisions, ensuring the Group is fit for future purpose and can maintain to be a viable, financially sound business that delivers Value for Money for residents and excellent services.
“I joined the Board not really knowing what to expect, but wanting to ensure that we Residents had representation at this level. I have been pleasantly surprised how Members always consider the impact on Residents of everything we do”. Current Resident Volunteer.
Resident Engagement – the future
To move forwards we have a new Resident Engagement Strategy which has the following high level aims:
- Continue to Improve our landlord services and approach to customer services, by listening to and acting upon the views of our Residents.
- Broaden Resident Engagement to reach underrepresented groups and to get better at ‘Listening to your views and acting on them’ and also overall satisfaction with services provided by ClwydAlyn.
- Be open and accountable to our Residents by involving you in the designing of services, continuous improvement of services, development of key strategies and polices and also scrutiny of what we do.
- Help build the confidence, knowledge and skills of Residents in order that you can play a full role in improving and developing services.
- Improve our communication with Residents.
